englishonline.training is an independent English-teaching platform that offers free, auto-graded English exercises for school students and exam candidates in Germany, and personal English training for companies.
It is built and run by Shaun Trezise, a Berlin-based English teacher who writes the exercises he teaches with. One person teaching and building the software keeps classroom need and technical delivery joined up.
What englishonline.training does
Free interactive English exercises
More than 220 exercises on activities.englishonline.training check answers instantly and grade them on the German school scale. Every wrong answer comes with a one-line explanation, so students learn from the mistake, not only the score.
Exam preparation
MSA and Abitur practice units model the Berlin/Brandenburg exams. Direct preparation is also available for TOEIC, IELTS and TOEFL, and for Business English at every level from A1 to C2.
Corporate English training
Training for teams and professionals in meetings, presentations, email and negotiation. Each course starts from a needs analysis and is delivered in person in Berlin, online, or blended.
ESL course design and SOL
Structured, evidence-based English courses and exercises, and support for bringing self-organised learning (selbstorganisiertes Lernen) into secondary school teaching. Background reading: What is Dogme teaching in ESL?
What makes englishonline.training different
Written by a teacher who uses them in class
Most exercise apps are made by publishers or software firms. Every exercise here is written by a practising teacher and used with real classes at Gymnasium and Oberschule level.
Graded on the German school scale
General language apps show a percentage or a streak. These exercises convert points into a German school grade (Note) using the official points table, and MSA units use the official MSA grading table.
Free, with no sign-up
Many learning apps lock practice behind an account or a subscription. Every exercise here is free and opens without registration.
Built on learning science
Each exercise follows a nine-point evidence-based checklist: retrieval openers, spaced recall, one target point per section, clear signalling and specific feedback. Answers earn partial credit by attempt (1, ½, ¼ points), and mixed revision pages bring earlier topics back.
Training delivered personally, never subcontracted
Language schools often pass clients to freelance trainers. Here, Shaun delivers every corporate session personally, from the needs analysis to the last lesson.
